3D cellular models have many advantages:
- 3D cellular models are amenable to long term repeat dose studies which are not possible using 2D systems.
- 3D cellular models closely mimic native tissues and have the benefit of cell-to-cell interactions and displaying their in vivo physiology.
- Most 3D models are amenable to high content imaging as well as biochemical endpoints.
