Dr Flemming Oernskov

Dr Flemming Oernskov has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Evotec since August 2008. He is a well known executive with extensive experience within the pharmaceutical industry.

Since June 2010, Dr. Flemming Oernskov is heading the Women’s Healthcare & General Medicine Global Business Unit at Bayer Schering Pharma (BSP) and is a member of their Executive Committee. He joined BSP from Bausch & Lomb, Inc., where he served as Global President, Pharmaceuticals and OTC, from 2008 to 2010. He was responsible for the company's prescription ophthalmic pharmaceuticals and generics, as well as its general eye health and vitamins businesses. Prior to this he served as CEO and President of Ikaria, Inc., a privately owned, critical care company in Seattle, USA which was sold to a private equity company in 2007. Dr Oernskov stayed on the board of Ikaria until 2008. From 2002 to 2005, he was President of the Ophthalmics Business Unit for Novartis and from 2001 to 2002, he led Novartis’ US cardiovascular franchise. Prior to joining Novartis, Dr Oernskov held several senior leadership positions at Merck & Co.

Dr Oernskov serves on several boards, and is Chairman of the board for Santaris Pharma A/S. From 2006 to 2008, Dr Oernskov was Chairman of LifeCycle Pharma, and also served as its CEO and President from 2007-8.

Dr Oernskov received a MD degree from University of Copenhagen, a MBA degree from INSEAD and a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University.
